Focus and Scope

The goal of SIGS is to serve as an open-access, standards-supportive publication for rapid dissemination of concise genome and metagenome reports that comply with the emerging MIGS/MIMS standards, detailed standard operating procedures, meeting reports, reviews and commentaries, data policies, white papers and other gray literature that is relevant to genome sciences but currently absent from the scholarly literature.

Authors interested in contributing to the journal are encouraged to contact the editorial office in advance of submission to discuss the requirements of articles so as to expedite publication. Descriptions of genomes and metagenomes that are submitted for publication as Genome Reports or Metagenome Reports comply with the Minimum Information for Genome Standards or Minimum Information for Metagenome Standards as described in the MIGS Standards (Nat Biotechnol. 2008 May;26(5):541-7).

Publication Frequency

Standards in Genomic Sciences publishes on a bimonthly schedule. New issues publish on or about the 20th day of January, March, May, July, September, and November.  Additional articles will be published in each issue through the last day of the following month, on acceptance.
